About World Space Week:
Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite placed into Earth orbit by the Soviet Union on October 4, 1957, is a milestone in human technological development. This development, considered humanity's first contact with space, paved the way for the satellite technologies that all of our communication channels require today. Therefore, since 1999, World Space Week has been celebrated annually from October 4 to 11, with events to raise awareness and increase interest in space science and technologies.
